Great Barrier Reef – a poem by Jenna Abbaticchio

Great Barrier Reef

Underwater wonderland full of life.

Vivacious colors paired with diverse textures.

Ballooned flora,

shaggy algae,

tangled seagrasses,

sea anemones, surround me

A rainbow fish brushes my leg.

A friendly turtle mimics my breaststroke.

A baby shark lurks in the distance.

I do not feel afraid.

I am an intruder in this world.

I want to remember this view forever,

share it with the world,

but right now I think,

observing. Wondering.

Is this real life?

Submerged.

Alone.

I soak it all in,

and come up for air.

My eyes craving more.
